Nathan and Kirsty's Dream Wedding Reception Nottinghamshire

It’s wedding season at BrackenXcapes! This July, we were delighted to host two weekend receptions at our family-run glamping site. We love bringing these celebrations to life and are happy to help with everything from decorating the marquees to hosting guests in our glamping accommodation. One of the couples we hosted this July was Nathan and Kirsty, who live in Newark and got married at Gilstrap registry in town. Afterwards, around 130 of their family and friends, some from as far afield as Wales and Ireland, came to celebrate at BrackenXcapes. “It was perfect,” says Nathan, “We would 100 percent recommend BrackenXcapes if you’re looking for an outdoor wedding reception. We loved the space, the accommodation and having Nigel and Laura (the owners of BrackenXcapes) to help plan everything - they made the journey a much easier one.”

“Kirsty and I had attended another outdoor reception with on-site camping and loved it,” says Nathan, who chose BrackenXcapes for its rural location and facilities. “The site has beautiful views and a gorgeous backdrop of fields for the photos. We adore the rustic look so we used hay bales as a walkway to the marquee. The open space is also perfect for guests to mingle.”

The event was 18 months in the making and involved plenty of prior site visits. Nathan explains: “Nigel and Laura gave us a solid foundation by supplying a marquee, tables and chairs and were really good at recommending suppliers for things like the portaloos. Kirsty also bought a lot of décor but Nigel and Laura went above and beyond; they were available throughout the process and only a message away.” 

BrackenXcapes has a range of facilities perfect for receptions and whole site hire, including marquees, furniture and decorations, a dance floor and stage. The glamping field has picnic tables and outdoor games, and when night falls, it’s lit with solar lanterns and fairy lights. “I cannot sing Nigel and Laura’s praises enough,” says Nathan, who also hired a wood-fired pizza food truck for his reception, “They added extra tables, helped with the decoration and stored and set out food.”

Guests stayed in our range of accommodation, including luxury cottage, bell tents, glamping pods and Tiny House Lodge. “I have nothing but positive feedback for the accommodation,” says Nathan, “Kirsty and I stayed in the cottage and used the hot tub the night before. My grandparents even stayed in one of the glamping pods and absolutely loved it!”
