We’re just a short walk from the village of North Muskham and walks along the River Trent
where you can stop at pubs like the Muskham Ferry. As well as offering peaceful, back-to-
nature glamping accommodation, we host a range of events and activities, including:
Summer Shakedown: Our annual end-of-summer festival takes place on 13th September in 2025 and features food vendors, a bar with drinks from acclaimed Milestone Brewery and sausage and chilli-eating competitions. We have three local bands performing in our huge marquee with stage and dance floor: Street Hawks, Soul Solution and Beggars Belief. Get tickets here.
Adventure activities: We’ve partnered with Into the Forest to offer adventure activities in our glamping field. Enjoy one-hour sessions in archery, axe throwing, crossbows and air-rifle shooting led by experts; this year, we’re offering guests who book a weekend stay one free session per group. Wassail 2026: BrackenXcapes' annual community event is back on the 17th January 2026. Enjoy a family fun night centred around the ancient tradition of wassailing complete with singing and dancing, entertainment, food and drink. Tickets are free and there's plenty of parking, book here.
Glamping Newark Accommodation
We have 10 glamping units that can accommodate up to 35 guests; we often host private
weddings and celebrations, so get in touch if you’re interested in whole site hire. Choose
from one of the following options for your glamping Newark trip:
Glamping pods: Our three cute wooden glamping pods sleep two-to-three people and have private bathrooms and kitchenettes. Amenities include WiFi, smart TVs and private decks with BBQs.
Bell Tents: We have six canvas bell tents that sleep between two and five people. Enjoy fixed beds and cosy furnishings or bring your own bedding for a reduced fee. There are communal toilets and showers, BBQs, an outdoor kitchen and firepit.
Bracken Heights Lodge: for a fancier stay on our glamping site, book our two-storey
wooden tiny house on wheels. It has a cosy sleeping loft with double-bed and second games loft with futon, a bathroom, full kitchen and lounge. Enjoy a private deck, BBQ and inflatable Lay-Z-Spa hot tub.
Holiday cottage: if you’re looking for holiday cottages near Newark on Trent, The Fern sleeps five with two bedrooms and a sofa bed. There’s a large kitchen-diner, living room and bathroom, as well as a private enclosed garden with Tuff Spa hot tub.

BrackenXcapes is just a 10-minute drive from Newark and its many attractions. Browse its
traditional, cobbled market square, glimpse the spire of the Church of St Mary Magdalene
and learn about the town’s history at the Town Hall museum. Here are some of the top

Newark Castle and Gardens: Wander the ruins of this nearly 900-year-old castle on the banks of the River Trent, which was partly destroyed during the Civil War but still claims the title of the largest castle gateway in England.
River Cruises: Enjoy a 90-minute round-trip cruise along the River Trent. Relax on an Edwardian boat, spotting landmarks and wildlife along the river banks.
National Civil War Centre: Learn about the 17th-century Civil War at this acclaimed centre, which offers galleries, a cinema experience and interactive exhibits like trying on replica outfits and armour and cracking war-time codes with a cipher wheel.

biking and dog-friendly hiking trails.
Historic landmarks: Within a 30-minute drive of BrackenXcapes, you’ll find a variety of
historic attractions. Visit the 18th-century National Trust site Clumber Park with its grand
mansion, gardens and lake, stately Belvoir Castle or catch an event at Grade-1-Listed Kelham Hall.
